Ear cropping is illegal in England and Wales, under Section 5 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006. However, the practice is still legal in other parts of the world, which is how advocates for the cropped and docked doberman are able to aquire them 100 % legally via importation. Imports to GB must be accompanied by the appropriate health certificate based on the GB model health certificate for commercial dogs, cats and ferrets. The health certificate must be obtained through the Competent Authority of the country they are being exported from.
